Razhea Capita
Razhea Capita is a grand ecumenopolis, the centre of the razhean community. It has been the cradle of razhean civilisation for thousands upon thousands of years, and the planet's population skyrocketed after the species made it into space and beyond their solar system.
The planet is a humble refuge to those in need. With a population just over thirty billion, a fifth of this are refugees from far away solar systems.
Razhea Capita is the galactic capital of the Milky Way's Greater Oasis. The sheer influence of the razhean species across the galaxies and the planet's alignment on the Galactic Highway has given it a great economic boost in the last thousand years.
Geography, Location & Climate
Razhea Capita is the home planet of the razhean species. What was once a blossoming forested planet is now an ecumenopolis with over ten billion inhabitants, and still on the rise.
Much of the planet has been transformed from natural landscapes to an sprawling urban paradise. Cloudcutters, clean air-generating skyscrapers, are the peak of razhean eco-friendly technology and wonder, helping to combat the immense amount of pollution the worldwide city creates. Stuffed between mountains of apartment complexes are nature reserves, flora and fauna encroaching onto razhean territory as these natural spaces grow fewer and far between.
The Underworld of Razhea Capita is just a forgotten memory. Collapsed parts of the city are concealed and left to rot, new edifices thrown onto large platforms stacked on top of each other. The city continues to expand upwards and outwards, leaving old, neglected regions to die. A vast network of illegal activity has cultivated itself in Razhea Capita's underworld as it goes unguarded and unmonitored.
The House of the Mastermind is nestled within the centre of the Potenti District, the planet's paramount. The House is the location of the interplanetary government, overseeing relations with other sophonts in the galaxies razheans inhabit.
Satellites
Babadi
Babadi is not ruled by razheans, but by pseudo-sophonts, the babadii. Razheans have taken the species under their wing, keeping a close eye on their evolutionary path and pointing them towards the same path razheans took.Razhea Mini
Razhea Mini is too an ecumenopolis, with a population of two hundred million. Not a single natural space can be found on the moon anymore, and holographic wildlife roams around.Saventi
The largest of Razhea Capita's moons, Saventi has a small razhean population. The ice cold moon is an important cultural landmark, the first exo-planetary location the razhean species populated.History
The planet is approximately seven billion years old, formed through accretion. As celestial material builds up, Razhea Capita grew from dust, to a planetesimal, to finally a planet. The razhean species first appeared around fifty million years ago, showing early signs of hightened intelligence and awareness of their surroundings.
Razheans civilisations were quick to grow, swallowing up all the planet's land. Once almost all of Razhea Capita's mainlands had been terraformed and build upon, they set their sights on the oceans. Mile-long rafts sprawl across the seas where cloudcutters jut into the sky and down to the seabed. Small islands became the only untouched wildernesses on the globe, until those became grounds for radioactive machinery designed to aid in the study of alternate realms.
Razhean History
Razheans have been travelling through space for thousands of years. Their technology is extremely advanced, spacecrafts never faltering. As a community, their focus is on evolving their understanding of the universe and studying the peoples and cultures of the galaxies they inhabit. All the information they gather is stored within Mastermind, a highly advanced artificial intelligence system.
Razhean intelligence gave them the edge against competitors in their ecosystems. Hunting tools became more advanced, and razheans discovered magic far quicker than most other sophonts.
Early razheans were earth and water benders. They manipulated rivers to spread across vast crop fields, helping them grow as much food as possible. Their ability to communicate with animals meant that hunting was easier. Magic was not just used for food - it became the basis of early razhean culture.
The more powerful wielders of magic served as deities in razhean culture across the planet. Thousands of years passed, and razhean culture leaned more towards rationality as opposed to faith. Deities became a thing of the past as razheans now idolised the Mastermind, a super AI designed to store all knowledge razheans have learned throughout their history.
Mastermind led the species into the Space Age, which begun seven and a half thousand years ago. The first spacecrafts were unreliable, but it got them past the Cantyma System's edge and on a nearby rogue planet. While those razheans never made it back to Razhea Capita, information about this new planet were sent to, and stored in, Mastermind.
Highly intelligent sophonts were discovered on this rogue planet, and valuable knowledge was exchanged between the two species. A friendship was formed, and razheans were given guidance on constructing safer spacecrafts, designed for prolonged space travel.
The next vehicles deployed were completely stable, making several round trips from Razhea Capita to its moon, Saventi. It was a groundbreaking feat that catapulted the razhean species into its Space Age.
Over the seven and a half thousand years until present day, razheans began perfecting their spacecraft designs, all the while exploring ever-farther in the Milky Way.
Ecology
Razhea Capita has a struggling ecosystem. The few plants and creatures that can survive in the urban expanses have adapted to unnatural environments. Several species of soft-bodied invertebrates, closely related to wiwaxia, survive by absorbing oil spilled within ponds and lakes in the Underworld. Scavengers, such as moss rats and waxmites, wiggle their way through rubble in an almost pitch-black environment.
There are a handful of invasive animal species on Razhea Capita, the most notable being twattels. They nest in abandoned buildings, terrorising anyone that gets too close to their colonial nesting grounds. Twattels are hunted by carnivorous vines that wrap around the Underworld, digging through buildings and destabilising the planet city, one platform at a time.
Hey, stay away from the fence. There's wild dogs on the other side, a whole pack of them. They patrol that building where their babies are.Wait, is that what the scar on your arm is from? Always wondered what that's about.Yeah. Vicious things they are. Six eyes, eight legs, and about two hundred serrated teeth. Never again.
Important Locations
House of the Mastermind
The House of the Mastermind is a glassy monument in the centre of the Potenti District. It houses physical data banks of Mastermind, where all of the information it has ever gathered is stored. Destroying this building could lead to the end of the entire razhean species, and for that reason it is guarded by only the most powerful and trustworthy soldiers.
The Furnace
The only part of the Underworld ever used by the surface world, the Furnace is the eater of millions of tonnes of waste. Garbage is disposed of through pipe systems that all lead to the Furnace.
These pipes transport waste from across the globe. Thousands of people have been recorded disappearing around these pipes, leaving no trace at all.

Babadi, Razhea Mini, Saventi
Ahhhhhhhhh Burgess Shale reference! You know I used to be a guide there, right? And helped discover the new site in 2012? Anyway, I love me an eco-friendly ecumenopolis. The idea of visiting the moon and watching holographic "wildlife" wander about was really amusing. Great article.

I can't lie I genuinely thought about mentioning hallucigenia in this article, but I remembered wiwaxia and I thought that was cooler - but honestly picture Cambrian lifeforms, and that's pretty similar to what you'd find in the Underworld :D that, and horrifying mutated monstrosities...
Radical!
