Pinnipera

Pinnipera is a small rocky planet in the Bloo System, named after the abundance of native pinnipeds. The planet has two continents, one on either Pole. Oceans are covered in ice, particularly around major landmasses.

Pinnipera has no native sophonts, instead occupied by Razhea Capita. The planet is protected by law, no unauthorised personnel allowed to land on Pinnipera. Just a handful of scientists have clearance for landing, operating in a number of research facilities dotted around the globe.

Research Outposts

Razhean scientists have a tough time handling the sub-zero temperatures and dangerous weather conditions. Both continents suffer from frequent seismic activity, expansive geyser fields, ice sheets shifting, and a number of dangerous lifeforms.

The various research stations set up around Pinnipera study the planet from top to bottom, core to crust. Climatologists are studying the ever decreasing temperatures of the planet - the last thousand years suggest Pinnipera is entering a new ice age.

All outposts have resident exobiologists to study the native lifeforms. Sawspine seals are being extensively studied, as they are the only known pinniped on the planet to lay eggs.

Hey guys... come check this out. Look down that hole. Is that an... egg? I thought these seals don't lay eggs. And why is it pulsating?
