Firepede

Firepedes are a megafauna species from Hell. They are a predator roaming the boiling hills and mountains of the planet, hunting animals while they camouflage with the red and brown rocks.

Anatomy

These animals are extremely long, reaching upwards of fourty feet as adults. As firepedes are reptiles they are cold-blooded, and often like to sunbathe in the heat to conserve energy. To protect themselves, firepedes are equipped with brown armour plating along their backs, and when the animals lay on the ground they are impenetrable.

Behaviour & Diet

Firepedes are generally quite abrasive creatures. They own large territories, and if another firepede enters the territory they will know, and will track them down to scare them off. Firepedes don't eat often, but when they do they will go on a day long rampage to consume as much as possible.

Firepedes do this once every six months. During this day, known as the Firepede's Purge, the animals will triple in size thanks to their enormous stretchy stomach. They will go in a dormant state for the next 3 - 5 days while they digest all of the food they have consumed. During the Purge, all factories and resident buildings go into lockdown. There are some cases where firepedes can climb into the buildings and factories and consume the entirety of the workforce, but this is very uncommon and has only happened once in the last hundred years.
