Unuth Red Desert
Geography & Climate
The Unuth Red Desert is the hottest desert, and place, on Osao. With temperatures averaging 50℃ during summers and 35℃ during winters, the URD is well known for its scorching heat.Other than these large pillars, the desert is quite flat. There are very few hills and dunes, and those that do form are usually swept away rather fast.
The lower climate of the Red Desert contains a high amount of cobalt fluoride, a pink chemical that has doused the desert in a pink hue.
Fauna & Flora
There isn't much in the way of fauna and flora in the URD. As the hottest place on Osao, not much life can be found here.
One animal species with an incredibly bizarre way of life is the balloon bird. Balloon birds are an animal species in its own family, all by itself. These animals have a large air sac above their heads and bodies, which contains neon. Balloon birds are able to extract the neon from the Osaoan air, displacing it through the thin skin sheets of their bulbous air sacs, which allows them to float as well as giving them a bright glow.
One common, and annoying, plant species is the shedding wig. Shedding wigs are named as such because they often lose and regrow their leaves that resemble hair. These leaves are a nuisance as they like to float into drainpipes and small cracks and crevices in the homes of those who live in the desert.
Desert Slimes
Slimes are a worldwide sapient species, even living here, in the hottest place on the planet. The slimes here have adapted to the extreme temperatures, changing their colours to red to blend in with the sand. They live in small bubble-houses, constructed with their own regenerative flesh. The houses reflect heat, the insides of the homes are much cooler.
Desert slimes live both in the Unuth Red Desert and the Uaelor Red Desert. After migrating on slimeboats around the Eppil Ocean, they settled down in the desert. This desert was much more hospitable than the URD, and as a result the population boomed and large bubble cities were formed.
