Epystal Islands
Geography, Location & Climate
This archipelago is just a hundred miles off the coast of the Zcarazas Plains. There are thirteen islands in this archipelago, each accessible by sand bridges that reveal under low tides. These islands massively range in size, from the smallest island at just three hundred square metres, to the largest at three hundred square miles.
Every single island is a light blue biome (See Osao Biomes), with a warm, wet climate. For the entire year, a thick, swampy blanket of mist and fog sits on these islands, concealing it from outsiders. This misty fog can make it somewhat hard to breathe due to how thick it is, but there are various masks designed to make breathing easier.
The three largest islands are much more mountainous than the other ten, reaching a peak altitude of four hundred metres above sea level on the largest island. The ten smallest islands do not reach more than twenty metres above sea level, and are often at risk of small tidal waves.
Biota
The Epystal Islands are home to unique ecosystems, thanks to its isolation from any mainland. Winged species have flown over to the islands and found its abundance of food and shelter from predators, and many have settled. Such species include faintwings, a small coastal passerine species that has formed several large colonies on these islands.
This archipelago has been the site for many animal repopulation attempts, such as firecrackers. Unfortunately, this has had impacts on the native wildlife, but not enough for environment enforcers to get involved.
History
The Epystal Islands have been known to slimes for thousands of years. They have been mentioned in a number of religious texts, most commonly as the "fog lands" due to the mist that hides the islands from anybody far away. The fog lands are regarded to be dangerous places to explore, and so nobody in history has ever attempted to colonise the lands and form any kind of civilisation there.
Only in more recent years have scientists and researchers explored these islands. The first major scientific exploration to the Epystal Islands was in 992, almost a thousand years after slimes began exploring space. Information and images were brought back and shared online, which shook the planet. It was the first time these islands were shown to be a paradise rather than hell (not to be confused with the planet, Hell).
In what way is it hard to breathe in the mist/fog? Is it poisonous? :)
It's very thick! I'll make it clearer in the article :D
