Kauzen II
Kauzen II is one of eight planets under the Kauzen Empire. This planet is known for its hot temperatures and muggy environment, hosting a wide variety of unique lifeforms and serving as a research post for exo-planetary exploration.
Geography, Location & Climate
There are three identified continents on Kauzen II. Each one is vastly different from one another, climates, natural resources, flora and fauna all varied.
Most of the planet is ocean, with dry land covering about 17% of the planet's surface. Most of Kauzen II's land has gone unused, treated as protected wilderness.
Rufelis
A fractured continent, made of one mainland and thousands of large floating islands, at varying heights.Izaan
A small, hot continent, found along the Equator. Much of it is desert and rainforest.Mesenae
The largest continent, connected to Izaan via a small land bridge.History
Kauzen II was first claimed by the Kauzen Empire three-hundred and fifty years ago, alongside Kauzen III. Ownership of both planets were filed for at the same time. As a harvesting planet, the Empire was free to strip it of its resources. Instead of this, the Empire decided to utilise its central location within the Galanti Cluster and turn it into a military base and research outpost.
The planet was to be used to manufacture goods, study diseases, and train military soldiers. Its role in the Kauzen Empire has been unchanged since its initial acquisition, and has only grown more prevalent within the Empire and the solar system as a whole.
Science & Technology
This planet is the only one in the Kauzen Empire not inhabited by the general populace. The entire planet is reserved for military bases and extensive laboratories. Outposts from across the Milky Way funnel information gathered into these laboratories.

Kauzen II's researchers have several specialised fields, and the Kauzen Empire has proved incredibly useful in the wider galaxy for what they provide.
Ecology
Kauzen II is full of life, its oceans bustling with colourful marine species. The untamed kelp forests spread for hundreds of miles, interspersed with striking coral reefs. Tiny marine fish dart between crevices in the rock, seeking refuge from predators lurking around.
The open oceans are home to vast creatures. Pyrorays are a species of stingray reaching seven metres in diameter. They flock the open waters in their thousands, feeding on pyroplankton that light up the water at night.
Ephemeral moths are magical winged creatures fluttering about the floating islands of Rufelis, providing magical nutrients to the flora they rest on. As a result, the growth of flora has increased tenfold compared to other regions of the planet.
Nomadic creatures roam Izaan, hiding during the blazing sunlight and roaming around at night. Flitting between their titanic legs are tiny ambush predators, hunting down small nocturnal insects and arthropods scuttling between rocks and desert plants.
Many species on Kauzen II have been studied for their photosynthetic abilities. Over a hundred animal species have been discovered to photosynthesise, obtaining nutrients from sunlight. Most of these animals are found in the deserts of Kauzen II.
