Urchinfish
Urchinfish are a species of deep-sea fish from the Osao Ocean. They are native to the Illuminated Zone, between 1,000 and 4,000 metres below sea level. They are rarely seen by slimes, occasionally fished up at Fishing Platforms.
Spiny Mouth
Urchinfish are most known for their gigantic mouths, half the length, if not more, than their entire body. The bottom jaw can separate and stretch outwards to swallow even larger prey.
A venom is injected into the fish's prey through funnels in their teeth, which turns the prey into a soup from the inside out. This venom acts quickly, liquifying the food in minutes. That way the fish can consume food at a fast rate, helpful in juveniles who are more vulnerable to predators and grow quicker.
