Jugulgujgoj

CW: Mention of suicide

Jugulgujgoj remains in a fractured and fragile state after being hit by an asteroid almost a quarter of its size. By some miracle the planet still stands, native life barely clinging on. The two moons of Jugulgujgoj are inscribed with massive sigils, a geomagical spell cast to keep the planet from collapsing.

Our nineteenth most horrifying planet is none other than Jugulgujgoj. Have fun pronouncing that name.
This planet is particularly interesting - it is held together by a magical spell, after being smashed into millions of pieces by a massive asteroid.
Crawling through the cracks of Jugulgujgoj are frightweavers, who prefer to torture their prey instead of eating them.

The sigils must face the planet at all times, or else the spell will break. Thankfully, both moons are tidally locked and forever remain in their necessary position. The spell was cast three hundred years ago as the asteroid struck, an event predicted by a powerful seer who remained anonymous.

Wriggling through the planet's cracks and chasms are swarms of giant insectoid creatures. Frightweavers gain sustenance from fear, choosing to traumatise prey, leaving them alive.

These partially sophontic animals have learnt to trap and torture prey, a shocking development that horrified scientists upon studying the deepest parts of their nests.

Razhea Capita currently occupies this planet, studying it on three artificial satellites. A fourth research satellite has now been abandoned, after several frightweavers escaped a containment cell and drove all of its scientists to suicide after being captured and tortured for five weeks.

Is the torture pain-related or just fear-related? I feel like studying those things up-close is just a bad idea to begin with (exactly HOW large are they?).   Proud I managed to pronounce Jugulgujgoj on only my 5th attempt.

It is fear related! I envision them to be about the same height as a human, maybe a little bit taller, but of course much wider, like a supersized tick.

I hope you have a great day!   Explore the endless planets brimming with life of the Yonderverse! Go after creatures, discover new places, and learn about the people you find along the way.
