Te Ezen
Te Ezen is a small town situated along the River Of Life on Jupiter, close to Jupiter's Edge. It is partially built on the corpse of an aurvadic whale, its skeleton holding up the town's signature landmark, the statue of Eze.
Te Ezen translates to 'the Eze' in joland, Eze being the name of the aurvadic whale that the town is built on.
History
Te Ezen was founded in 3600, making it almost four hundred years old. The original townspeople were nomads that discovered a dying aurvadic whale. They chose to remain by the whale's side until it passed, relieving it of as much pain as possible in its final weeks.
The people grew attached to this whale and found it too difficult to leave once it had passed away. Instead, they stayed in the area and set up temporary housing until they felt ready to leave again. That time never came, and slowly the townspeople built permanent homes.
The carcass was tended to, and as it began to decay, it attracted millions of scavenging creatures. These animals fed the townspeople, alongside small patches of farmland built on several small islands no bigger than a football field.
After a few years had passed and the carcass was completely stripped of meat, muscle, and tissue, a small group of townspeople carved a small marble statue of the whale, placing it atop the animal's skull. It is now a symbol of the town, and regularly recieved gifts and worship.
Ezenians
The townspeople of Te Ezen refer to themselves as Ezenians. They are a friendly people, clinging to nomadic tradition despite abandoning their lifestyle. Tourists are welcome in Te Ezen, often visiting the daily market square, vendors and artisans selling precious homemade items.
The Festival of Eze is a celebration exclusive to this town. Once a year, on the first day of the tenth month, townsfolk spend the day in solitude and silence, in remembrance of the whale that brought this town to life. Many choose to go on a quiet walk or flight down the River of Life and its tributaries, spending time in and around nature. The town is surrounded by many forested islands, most of which have been turned into small nature reserves with walkable paths.
