Spacefarer's Market

What do you mean you're not coming to the Spacefarer's Market? It's the biggest event of the orbit!
I'm just tired, I've spent the last three nights studying for my exams instead of sleeping. I just want to naaaap...
Shush. We're going.
What if I just fell asleep right here, huh? Then what would you do?

I'd get a bag, shove you in it, and drag you to the market. Come on, I'll buy you a bakewell tart?

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!?
— Two excitable students

On the science-led space colony Ffaea, the biggest night of the orbit is the Spacefarer's Market. All the most brilliant young minds gather to share their workings in the past year, bringing together architects, biologists, chemists, physicists, chefs and bakers, engineers, geneticists, absolutely anybody with something to offer. The Market gets its name from the number of spacefarers it attracts, bringing in people from countless other planets and space colonies to embrace the achievements of others.

The Spacefarer's Market is less a means of trading, but more a display of the knowledge of upcoming generations, promoting the advancement of the people of Ffaea.

A number of universities and science-based schools will latch onto these Markets while they're running, promoting their organisations by preying on the ecstatic minds of the intelligent youth.

History

Just like Ffaea, the Spacefarer's Market was founded roughly five thousand years ago. To bring together the various cultures that held Ffaea together in its early days, this event was created as a means of uniting the diferent communities. People could show off their personal strengths, by showcasing gadgets and art, delicious foods, hypotheses and research projects.

The first Market was rather small, with only about fifty people showcasing their creations, but nowadays up to seventy thousand people will show up to showcase their marvellous wonders.

The Market actively promotes itself on social media, its Spacestar account ammassing over eight million followers. In the first few years, the Spacefarer's Market was held inside the city square. Nowadays, the Market has its own location just a mile from the city square, occupying a large, multi-storey facility that can comfortably house up to eight million people.

Popular Stalls

While some like to say each stall is special in its own right, there is no doubt that some stalls have become familiar faces, and that some people have become houshold names within the Spacefarer's Market.

Sable's Colourful Candles

Sable Xaw has a stall containing wonderful candles of different colours. Using small flakes of different metals in the wicks, the flames come in many varieties, including green, orange, white, purple, and black.

Genetics Lab

The Genetics Lab is run by seven students from the Ffaea Science University, all studying genetics, Ffaea's specialist profession. The Genetics Lab has hosted some interesting debates, bringing in members of the public to discuss the ethics of studying and manipulating genetics. Can you argue both sides? Because they sure can.

Ser Ukis's Mushrooms

Ser Ukis is a master mycologist, having created several of her own species. Ser is quite a reserved person, preferring to let her mushrooms speak for her. Literally, some of them can talk in several languages.

Baked by Ynar

The most popular baked goods stall is Baked by Ynar. Her bubbly personality makes people want to buy her foods, which contain the most crucial ingredient: love. Ynar works day and night to bake all the foods for her stall prior to each Spacefarer's Market, making sure she has adequate stock. She still goes out of sale in the first few hours, so grab something quick!

Come for the pie, stay for the hugs
Mo's Mind Blowing Mocktails

Alcohol is frowned upon in the Spacefarer's Market, for it has some nasty . Mo uses this to gather more sales for his mocktail stall. His specialty is chemistry and using this he has created some truly breathtaking drinks. Ones that explode in your mouth giving you euphoric sensations, ones that let you breathe fire, glow, cry diamonds, you name it.

I want to go here! And I really want a bakewell tart, and a candle and to have a conversation with a mushroom, not necessarily in that order. :)

Me too, but I'd buy my tart after talking to the mushroom, in case the mushroom steals the tart xD
