Diamond
Diamonds are precious gems of carbon found on many planets. Because of their rarity, they are highly valued and used as a symbol of status.
On some very rare occassions, diamonds are actually common on planets.
Properties
Material Characteristics
Diamonds are found as a range of colours, but most commonly a bluish-white. Yellows, purples, oranges have also been discovered, but these are less pure diamonds and are therefore less valuable. Diamonds are extremely hard, in fact on most planets are the hardest material, and are difficult to acquire.Physical & Chemical Properties
Diamonds are not malleable in the slightest, and they are poor conductors of electricity due to a lack of a sea of electrons. They are very good conductors of heat, thanks to the strong covalent bonds between the carbon molecules.Geology
Diamonds only form at very high pressures. They are found in kimberlite, an ultrabasic volcanic rock found deep within the crust. Diamonds are not very common, and are found on a few places on only a handful of planets. Because of the depth at which they form, they are difficult to mine too.On some very rare occassions, diamonds are actually common on planets.
Venviri
On Venviri in the Kurhira System, the rivers are made of mercury, with small diamonds forming on the riverbeds. These diamonds are collected from trawler boats, mostly K-Trawlers under Karkhala Industries, and these diamonds are sold for high prices. The general public doesn't know that these diamonds are so common, which is how the company is able to set such high prices.Saturn, Uranus & Neptune
On Saturn, Uranus and Neptune in the Sol System, diamonds rain from the skies within the Inner Cores. Diamonds are to be expected in most gas and ice planets, but few solar systems have as many as the Sol System. It is illegal for any other planet to harvest the diamonds from these three planets, because there are sapient creatures on them and by law you cannot harvest materials on planets with sapient creatures able to communicate.

I'd heard of the diamond rains before, and was happy to see them mentioned here! The mercury rivers with diamond sand/gravel is really neat though!
I just had to mention the diamond rain, it's one of the most fascinating things in our solar system xD I'm glad you liked the article!
