Toebiter
Toebiters are a species of salamander from Maloruno, endemic to the Equator Range.
Anatomy
Toebiters are a slimly built salamander species, reaching approximately two centimetres in males and two and a half in females. Half of their length comes from their tails, equipped with a small fin extending from the base of their necks to the tips of their tails. Toebiters are dark blue in colour with yellow spots along their sides, a form of aposematism.
Diet
Toebiters are a carnivorous species. The calderas of dormant volcanoes in the Equator Range attract a considerable number of large lifeforms, all of which are feasted upon by these slippery salamanders. Using tiny razor-sharp teeth, they shear off any flesh they can from the toes of anything that approaches the water, numbing the area with a toxin released from their hollow fangs.
This unfortunately does not give them very many nutrients, so they must feed every couple of hours to survive.
