Seek here those who made their mark upon our worlds, whether it be great or small. Know their stories, and learn from what has been lived in their shoes.
No land is without inhabitants - and indeed, Istralar's land even takes on its own personifications. Here, you will find multiple lists of characters. As characters may be sorted in multiple ways, please note that characters are going to be duplicated across the categories!
For some additional context on the categories:
The first category is based on the characters and events of my campaign, wherein
the Lost Ones adventure across Istralar to fulfil their divine mission of finding a solution to the
Shards of the Void and their corruptive existence. Their antagonists are often Shards and gods, and thus may not have their own character articles, but their foes are still many.
Riven Drast, as wielder of the
Spiritblade, has been a dark force on the horizon since early days in the campaign's past.
Their allies, meanwhile, number from temporary alliances with otherwise-enemies (like
Idonea) to deep bonds with surprisingly powerful friends (like
Emperor Aneirin 'Cyne' of Aletheia). All the rest - their lovers, their families, their occasionally-met neutral forces - are those caught in the orbit of the Lost Ones, to interact with their journey in some way or another.
The second category focuses instead on the divinities of Istralar.
Avatars are anthropomorphic representations of the land, and may not have their own Character articles unless under special circumstances.
True gods are the current most powerful deities of the universe, and as of real-world 2024 and in-game 5627, are currently split between my custom deities - those listed here - and those of Paizo's Golarion.
Demigods are under similar circumstance.
Meanwhile,
Champions are the deity-marked wielders of their god's full power, given divine ability and full agency to act as the god's effective emissary in the mortal realm. Indeed, many of the Lost Ones are Champions. The Chosen of an Avatar are similar enough, yet different all the same: they are marked with
leyline magic and granted some mystical ability, often linked to a specific element. Why, you may ask? The answer is always different.
As for the Shard-Bearers - they are those who wield a Shard, for better or for worse. This category is the most likely to change, and each under it is always at danger of falling completely to the
influence of what they wield.
The third category really needs no explanation: it's by species/race. I may later add further categories for native area, organisation, or even RPG class, but this feels like a decent start. Feel free to explore the normal category structure to find people by what they're most associated with!
Lastly, the dead. These are all characters who have died. Nice and simple.
Wow, this is awesome. If you don't mind me asking, did you hand-code this or is it powered by tags (or by something else entirely)?
The lists of characters are all tag-generated with tags I set up via Brigid, since it's way easier to set the Brigid list to be person-only and to check what I've got tagged with what there, and then the ToC is manual because it included all the tagged list headers otherwise x) Would 100% not have done this manually hahaha
welcome to my signature! check out istralar!
(oh, and if you inspect the lists of characters, you'll see they're in a container called 'autocols' - that, I set some css up on to automatically turn list into grid)
