  Jytte Myrkkama is an excitable and carefree witch of the Saaru who lives in Loskund. She genuinely loves her work as a witch and hopes to share her unique spells and potions with all, regardless of their species or worldview. Unfortunately, her methods of spellcasting and ritualistic worship are not standard and in fact are often illegal or otherwise socially unacceptable outside the woods of the Saaru. This does not stop her from trying to share her unorthodox methods; in fact, it does quite the opposite.   She's young even for a human, having only recently come into her own as a full-blown witch. Her covenmates seek to remind her of this often, usually by throwing their work onto her as she's one of the youngest. Unfortunately, the methods by which she completes these tasks often lead her to catastrophic levels of success, causing two effects:
  • For one, her credit can never be stolen. Nobody can quite cause the effect Jytte does.
  • For the other... those who attempted to pass off their work onto her usually end up receiving the scolding for the mess, as they were completely capable of avoiding it.
  • As a result of her odd behaviours, Jytte doesn't exactly have many friends. She counts her last living friend as a terrified human boy she met when she was fifteen. He was two years older than her at the time, but was willing enough to give her a chance. When her tutor Ieva Lukkari found out, the older witch lured the boy into her home using her body and promptly captured him, then forced Jytte to use him in her rituals. Some suspect this was when the odd girl lost her last scraps of sanity. Despite using most of her friend's organs for varying potions and poultices, Jytte was able to keep one part of him safe: a singular eyeball, which she preserved and named Mr. Eyeball. He sits on her kitchen table in a jar of preservative juices, keeping her company in the day as she works.

    Small and reasonably fit for a witch who runs around the woods daily. Has her share of potion and spell wounds.

    Identifying Characteristics

    Has the tattoo of the Saaru placed on her sternum, easily visible to any peeking at her chest. Has a small white birthmark on her left ankle in the shape of... a bloodspatter, if you ask her.

    Special abilities

    Can control her hair as if it's a weapon. Casts spells as a witch.

    Likes to wear layered clothing in bright colours with a firm base of leather underneath. Doesn't care if it's revealing or not for the most part.

    Mental characteristics

    Personal history

    Jytte was born to Arnaka Myrkkama, a powerful ice-wielding witch, and her consort Saqu on Midwintersday at the sun's peak. Her mother knew that she stood no chance of surviving the birth, and so sacrificed herself in a ritual that would steal the colour from Jytte's hair and instead bestow upon her the ability to control said hair as another limb.   She was an odd and antisocial child throughout childhood, preferring to communicate through using her hair. Gossip spread that she was some sort of fey foundling come to join them, and it was only the protection of the Saaru matriarch at the time that stopped her from being experimented on severely. As it was, she found dodging spells to be a regular occurrence and came to enjoy the pastime.   As soon as she hit 18, she moved away from the tribe's stronghold and into the village of Loskund to be able to share her precious treasures and potions with the local townsfolk. Whilst she's made a reputation for herself as a bit of an apothecary, it isn't a wholly good one: she doesn't accept payment in gold - instead requiring that those needing service bring her parts of things that were once alive, or that otherwise seem interesting, and her treatments have been known to fail if her patient skimps on the payment.
