Wargun Settlement in Tarien | World Anvil

Wargun

Originally built as the seat of government by Dono Hethral Darin IXX, Wargun is a stately walled city of hewn stone. Its streets are narrow but cobbled and few buildings have grown taller than three stories. Steep roofs, to slough off winter snows, are made of timbers from the Tallwood and painted crimson and green. Beyond the walls lie wooden shops and homes for the overflowing population before giving way to farms and pastureland.

Most unusually for a Zennonaize town, the town has both a large number longships and a shipyard. Unlike like the vessels that sail the Inner Seas, ships from Wargon are long and single masted. Rows of oars serve as their primary propulsion. Stranger still, many in the town make their living on the water using nets to capture cod and other fish from huge schools or, for the brave, using harpoons to hunt the great whales that spend their summers in the Great North Sea.

Despite losing its position as the capital, Wargun is still the second largest city in the Confederacy and carries considerable weight with the Dono . The fact that the city has both its own army and ostensibly, a navy, helps remind others of their strength.
