Gatehouse Livestock Auction

Tucked between a row of oaks and the walls of Wargun, just outside the sprawling market and shanty town that has sprung up outside of Hethral's Gate, one can purchase cattle, horses, dogs sheep, goats and even the occasional hunting cat (captured in the Rheuthengage Mountains mountains or Tallwood of course - lions being driven from the Malpighien Steppes centuries ago) at the city's auction. Held every day of the week except for Kingsday and major feast days, the auction is certainly not as large as the Zennon Horse Market but comes in as a respectable second in size in the Zennonaize Confederacy. The market adjacent to it, just outside of the Gate, boasts a fine collection of street foods, cloth, and weapons, armor and tack as a further means of extracting wealth from auction goes.

Many merchants make their living purchasing livestock from outlying farms and estates, some as far aways Tharichen and Paaz. Many more make their living purchasing the livestock and driving them south for markets in Gartcha and Yaty. The cleverest, however, make their living within the city itself, often purchasing undervalued livestock, holding them in nearby farms, and then reselling them denaries or even a few moons later.

Unlike the market in Zennon or those around the Sea of Storms, where writs from the Bank of Karradone might be used for a purchase, Auction accepts only hard currency. A legion of armed guards collect and distribute the coin every day, with reserves kept in a stronghouse somewhere within the city.
