Wargun Free Market

Not to be confused with the Wartin Fish Market, the Free Market is a large square located in the center of the city, just south of the Old Dono's Palace, filled with independent craftsmen and artisans from across the Duchy. Unlike other markets, it has no stalls or even canvas tents. At best a vendor might have a small table upon which to display their wares though most merely have blanket laid out across the cobbles. The lack of structures is, of course, intentional. None of the vendors found in the free market belong to the Craftsmen's Coalition and, given that guild's propensity for the physical enforcement of its membership requirements, most of the vendor's want to be able to pick up their goods and vacate the square on short notice. Fortunately for the vendors, the popularity of the market means that Wargun's Watchers always keep a few soldiers on hand, keeping the Coalition's strong-armed tactics at bay.

While the square bustles with traffic and It also means that at night the square is empty. While one might find brightly colored blankets of fine wool or custom crafted knives from the finest steel or even silver during the day, the arrival of Tiras leaves nothing but shadows. Most vendors do not even live in the city, electing to tromp in from the shanty town on its outskirts each day. This leads to a rather haphazard setup to the market. Many vendors have their regular spots, but others simply plop down where they see fit. No trip to the market is ever the same and one is never guaranteed to find vendor that saw yesterday upon their return.

The lack of Coalition oversight seems to lead to a greater variety of goods. Some even claim that it pushes innovation, leading to breakthroughs in fashion and even new inventions. More than a few Nerrid are among the vendors crammed into the square, their strange contraptions awing and frightening passerby's. That same lack of oversight, many swear, pushes the quality of goods sold. Many, including Captain K herself, refuse to buy their sabers elsewhere.
