Korryn Palumkar
Although she has a scant half-dozen years of official service in the fleet of Wargun's Watchers , Korryn - Captain K to her crew - has been at sea since she stowed away on her father’s whaling vessel just after her twelfth naming day. Since that fateful date, after her father dangled her over the prow and threatened to drop her into the hopeful maw of an orca - she has held every post aboard the ship, mastering the art of whaling with her first successful harpooning in her fifteenth summer and the enlisting into the Duke's service two winters later.
Not a tall woman, she wears her wavy black hair cut short, generally beneath a fiery red bandanna that she adopted after having heard one too many stories about pirates in the Sea of Storms as a child. Like mainly sailors, she favors piercings, boasting a half dozen hoops of gold on her ears, once, and even one through an eyebrow. Despite her size she can pull an oar or furl a say as ably as any on her crew and, in addition to her unerring instincts she has a keen eye with the heavy crossbow she keeps loaded at her feet when she runs the tiller.
Korryn prides herself in keeping the Gulf and much of the North Sea free of privateers and smugglers. Nearly worshipped by her crew she has, however, found it difficult to find a husband. While this may not bother Korryn, it irks her “uncle” Titus who feels strongly that members of the family should married and producing the next generation by her age. Her sense of duty may conflict with her own desires but she has enough of the former to find herself in Wargun, at court functions more than aboard her ship these days.
Captain K to her crew, Korryn has lead ships to fish, whale, and patrol the north sea in the service of her clan. Now if she can only find a husband that can keep up with at the oars, not drive her mad, and be willing to take her family name, she could get her Uncle Titu of her back.
