Seal Island
Truth be told, the spotted seals that once called this island home haven't frequented its rocky shores in nearly five centuries. Located well off shore from Wargun, in the deeper waters of the Mali River's estuary as it flows into the Wartin Gulf, Seal Island is where the huge whaling vessels in city's own fleet and longships and the few foreign galleons that call on Wargon dock. Crammed full of rickety buildings, constructed from wood and covered with pitch instead of the limestone walls and slate roofing that dominate the city proper, the Island makes the worst neighborhoods of the Darin Peninsula seem clean and safe. A maze of narrow streets navigate between warehouses full of deep sea fish and whale oil from the Great North Sea, cheap, sailor frequented taverns and cheaper flophouses. Water taxi's ferry crews and passengers to the mainland, where docks are occupied mostly by small fishing vessels that trawl the Gulf. The island's saving grace is the small naval base located on its northern point, a (relatively) clean and orderly fort that serves as home to the city's largest trio of warships.
