Torin Delante
Dono of the Zennonaize Confederacy
Torin is not a true Delante, as many of his clan will tell you. His father bought his was into he family through marriage after successful career in the Zennonaize Cavalry that included several forays deep into the Rheuthengage Mountains to fight off marauding Hill Giants. Somewhere in this service he acquired a large sum of gold and used it procure the hand of Delante daughter who at the time was far from the line of succession. The infighting in the clan, however, wiped out many of those with better claims than Torin and when the last died, choking on an sliver of porcelain accidentally baked into a pie, Torin was crowned.
Shrewd and ruthless, the new Dono has worked tirelessly to consolidate his power, pulling a trick out of his father's book and offering the hands of his five daughters up to rival clans as a way to cement his hold on the throne. While only two of these marriages have been consummated - the other three daughters are merely promised as they are not yet of age, whispers around Zennon indicate that the trick may have protected him from rivals in his own house as the Delantes are terrified that one of the rival clans will use their marriage to claim the throne. This could all be solved, of course, if Torin would sire a son, something he could not do with any of his first three wives, the latest of which has seen three food tasters die in the past winter.
