Prince's Palace

The Prince's Palace is the home of Prince Verin Khankari, lord of the Citystate of Gartcha and has been in his family for generations, ever since Count Nemo Khankari assumed leadership of the city.

Originally built from the limestone found in the hills of Finkley's Ridge, the impressive four-story, domed palace has since been re-sided with white marble carted at great expense from the Rheuthengage Mountains. While the marble is well worked, miners had difficulty finding large veins meaning that each side of the palace is flecked with a different accenting color - blue to the west, pink to the north, green to the east, and light grey to the south. The various princes of the city have, over the years, begun to adapt the furnishings of the palace itself in a similar fashion, almost as if to make the varying walls a design decision instead of one driven by necessity. The result is a hodgepodge of styles within the palace itself, ranging from a poor attempt at a Soulmeliti sitting room to an ostentatious gold-trimmed dining room that imagines how the Imperial Palace in Eldoria might appear. Needless to say, the princes have never quite gotten any of these attempts correct and visitors from foreign lands are often left shaking their heads.

Still, the palace is well appointed. The tax revenue generated by Gartcha's position as the gateway to northwest Tarien means that the Prince and his family have dozens of servants, men-at-arms, and staff. Key members of the Citystate's government have apartments within the palace to better serve the Prince and carry out their duties. And while it is rare, the Prince will occasionally use the grand ballroom - decorated much as one would find in any Zennon estate, much to the relief of guests - to host a ball or gala.

The palace also boasts a number of outbuildings that hold the Prince's stables, a small garrison from the 12th Legion, the city prison and offices for his treasury staff.
