Settlements Great & Small

The many species of Tarien have banded together in settlements of one sort or another for centuries. Ranging from tiniest of villages to the grandest of cities, they satisfy the need for people to congregate in order to achieve safety. While many settlements claim a single dominate culture or even a single species, the most cosmopolitan are an opportunity to see people from across the continent. As settlements grow, so too does specialization amongst residents, allowing for advances in culture, sciences, and (where its not outlawed) the arcane.

Alas, not all settlements last. Abandoned towers, still protected by magics from wizards long dead, and the ruins of ancient bastions of civilization can be found throughout the wild places, daring brave adventures to discover their secrets.
