Valette Farinshyme

Proprietor of the Fairy Queen's Respite

Valette may be nearly three centuries in age, but she doesn't look a day over two. She keeps her hair long - easily to her waist if it she didn't keep it twisted into tight dreadlocks that she dyes into a blinding shade of green and festoons with flowers. Her eyes still blaze a bright blue, like one might see on a perfect spring day deep in the Malpighien Steppes. She moves with the grace of a dancer - always on the balls of her feet and ready to spring in any direction. She eschews jewelry, wearing only a Mithril oak leaf on a thin chain around her neck, a nod to her goddess.

She can generally be found in the common room of the Fairy Queen's Respite in the small, parklike refuge that she has owned in Wargun for the past hundred and fifty years. Quick to fill a goblet of wine or offer up advice on which dish of the day to try (she generally recommends the noodle soup), Valette is an easily conversationalist and seems to have made friends with everyone in the city. Few can recall her having an opinion on any sort of sensitive matter and most laugh a the strangely curved sword that sits behind the bar of her inn. A women like that could never have wielded such a weapon.

Those that know her best know that she harbors strong feels about what is right and wrong but, like most Soulmeliti, she has learned to curb those feelings around shorter-lived races. Indeed, like many outsiders to the Zennonaize Confederacy she feels that she can do more good working quietly behind the scenes, either changing hearts and minds by the slow, repetitive exposure to ideas over time or, in cases where warranted, the occasional act from the shadows to shepherd a misunderstood innocent out of the Confederacy.

With long dreadlocks, dyed green by one of the many plants on her small nature reserve within the otherwise stone and mud city of Wargun, Valette runs the Fairy Queen's Respite, a high end inn for the adventurous. Despite the ban on magic in the Confederacy, everyone turns a blind eye to the old Soulmeliti's eccentricities, such as Rex, a lion that patrols her grounds and, according to legend, not only speaks passable Zennonaize but is also nearly as old as Valette.
