Mithril

It's been two and a half millenia since the Khadra first found Mithril in their Frosted Mountains mountain mines. And unlike Adamantine, they have continued to find viable sources of the metal, with the most recent being near what is now Norharlin. This continued source of raw ore has made Mithril, though not common by any stretch of the imagination, more widely available than either Adamantine (which the Kharda horde) or Blacksteel (which is jealously guarded by the Elynthi.

The Soulmeliti have traditionally been the largest consumers of the material, working it into fine blades and chain shirts for their nobility and elite warriors. Humans in The Kingdom of Galencia and even as far away as The Empire of Eldoria have been either granted Mithril gifts or outright purchased Kharda worked goods. in the former case these often become family heirlooms passed from generation to generation. In the latter, orders made by fathers are often fulfilled to sons or even grandsons as the crafting of weapons and armor from mithril is a patient process.

Despite its relative proliferation, the Khadra keep tight control on the outflow of the material from the The Underground Kingdom of the Children of Kharl for two reasons. First, their experience with Adamantine has taught them that there is a limited supply of any material. Secondly the wish to keep control of the market for financial reasons. As such the appearance of any mithril item on the market often attracts much attention from them.

Lightweight and Flexible

Mithril is lightweight and flexible. As such, any item made from it weighs half the weight of the same item made from normal steel. This light weight helps reduce penalties for wearing heavier armor (chain shirts or breastplates) as well. It can be worn under normal clothing and does not impose disadvantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks. In addition, the Mithril version of armor that normally requires a strength check does not have one. For medium armor, the maximum dexterity bonus is doubled. For melee weapons, the light flexible material makes for more accurate strikes, granting the weilding a +1 on attack rolls.
