Orcus Character in Acaelica | World Anvil

Orcus

Orcus is a Demon Lord and master of the undead. He is perhaps the most deeply malevolent lesser deity. His most identifiable artifact is the Wand of Orcus, a skull-topped wand said to have the power to slay any living being.

Few mortals have seen Orcus and lived to tell of it. However, he is typically depicted as having the head and legs of a goat, ram-like horns, a bloated body, bat-like wings, and a long tail.

Origins

Like many of the most powerful demon lords who struggled for power in The Abyss, Orcus started his existence as a mortal on the Prime Material Plane.

Although his true mortal history is lost to time, the story goes that he was once a wicked spellcaster, most likely in service to some dark and forgotten deity. After his death as a human, his soul--like the souls of most chaotic evil mortals--went to the Abyss. Orcus began his afterlife as a lowly larva before ruthlessly clawing his way to the Demon Lord rank he now claims.
