The Blood War

The Blood War is the common name for the ongoing and eternal struggle between the lawful evil devils of Baator and the chaotic evil demons of The Abyss. It has been locked in a stalemate for aeons and there is currently no reason to expect this will ever change. Although the demons are all but numberless, their internecine struggles and inability to organize allow the much smaller forces of Baator to keep them in check.

Many scholars have argued that this stalemate is maintained according to some unknowable design.
