Today's Prompt:

A sharp flavor coats the tongue— this recipe is underdone. The golden apples, critical material to the gods’ ambrosia, are rotten on the branch. A blight spreads through the farmlands, a condition which means starvation for the masses. Ripe is a fleeting moment between unready and spoiled. When is that moment? What happens if you choose wrong?
