Zalas (Zal-lass)
Zalas is the largest landmass in the world of Zalastor and the only landmass large enough to truly be considered a continent. It lies within the heart of the world occupying the majority of the center of the world. It has a large and varied climate to plains in the west and north, to jungles in the south, and deserts in the east. It is home to the most nations of all the landmasses of the world including the Ashiri Empire, the Abasid Caliphate, the Golden Khanate, The Dread Lords, and the Listuroni Sultanate. The continent has the widest variety of species living on it of all the landmasses of the world of Zalastor.
Geography
The continent is famous for its set of duel mountain ranges running from west to east through the center of it. These mountains are known as the Grey Mountains and are spilt between the Northern Grey Mountains and Southern Grey Mountains. It also has a number of large forests including the Ashiri Jungle in the south and the Forest of Morn in the southeast. It has one desert, the Undying Desert, occupying much of the eastern part of the continent. It also has two large plains/grasslands the Western Plains occupying the are west of the Grey Mountains and the Northern Plains taking up much of the the northern part of the continent north of the Northern Grey Mountains.
Climate
Largely temperate in climate for the majority of the continent other than the Undying Desert in the east and the Ashiri Jungle in the south. Temperatures tend to fall within 40-90 degrees most of the time with hot flashes and freezing temperatures possible but rare for the most part. Temperatures within the Undying Desert deserts can reach well over 100 degrees during the day and under 40 degrees at night. The Ashiri Jungle also houses temperatures out of the ordinary with it being 80-100 degrees on average with humidity much higher than the rest of the continent. The Grey Mountains also tend to see abnormal temperatures due to their high elevation where there is much snowier and colder climate.
History
Zalas is believed by scholars to be the first of the great landmasses of the world to be created by Tarsen when he was creating the world. It is said that he wept with such passion after beholding his creation due to its beauty. Scholars believe it was were life was first created and the many species of the world were made by the gods and from there they spread out to the other landmasses of the world.
