Undying Desert
The Undying Desert is a large, inhospitable desert encompassing much of the central and northeastern parts of the continent of Zalas. It is known for its incredibly hot temperatures during the day and freezing temperatures at night. It is home to the Abasid Caliphate currently and thus is not very well explored by outsiders due to the caliphates weariness of outsiders. The desert is known for its unusual fauna with creatures being found here that are no where else in the world. Sandstorms and dunes cover the landscape with the occasional oasis scattered in between.
History
The desert is believed by many to have been at one time a large inland sea when the continent of Zalas was initially created by Tarsen. Scholars believe Alari used the water from this inland sea in order to create The Narrows in her endeavor to connect The Shoaling Deep and the Eastern Sea. It is believed that this led to the great desert that is there today as it is said that the goddess used all the water up to the very last drop.
