Northshire Woods (North-sure)
The Northshire Woods is a large forest north of the western edge of the Northern Grey Mountains. It lies within the domain of the Golden Khanate. It is a large mixed oak forest consisting of mainly Northern red oak, white oak, bur oak, black oak, northern pin oak with a smattering of red and sugar maple, black cherry, basswood, black walnut, white pine as well.
Geography
The woods are a loosely packed forest not very dense in nature with a very thin underbrush making traveling through it relatively simple. It is home to very many creeks and streams that trickle down from the mountains in the south. Its terrain is relatively flat until you meet the edge of the mountains at which point the terrain rise into many sharp, jagged cliffs that jut out from the mountains and sharply contrast the woods below.
History
Believed by scholars to have been created at the same time as the continent of Zalas by the god Tarsen during the time of great creation in the beginning of the world. It is thought to have been discovered by the people from the area that now makes up the Listuroni Sultanate thus it was named in a similar fashion to those peoples language.
