Listuroni Sultanate (Lis-tuh-ron-e)
The Listuroni Sultanate is a large, populous feudal society on the west coast of the continent of Zalas. They are ruled by an absolute monarchy with a sultan at its head currently being Halas Oaken. They are a largely peaceful nation preferring to trade and barter with their neighbors instead of warring, nevertheless though they have learned through experience that there is need of a military and force in order to defend ones self. Their demographics are mostly made up of Gnomes, Humans, and Sea Elves but races of every type can be found in its borders. They worship all the gods of the world of Zalastor but chiefly venerate Alari among them and strive to follow her ideals of peace and mercy. The Sultanate is known for its large coastal ports and long rivers running through the central part of the country. They are also known for their shrewd diplomats and knowledgeable scholars who pontificate on the way of the world. A largely educated society especially in the cities, they have been known to the lead the way with technological breakthroughs in the world.
Structure
The Listuroni Sultanate is an absolute monarchy ruled by a sultan. The Sultan rules over his sultanate from capital city of Listuron. Governance of major cities is left to the emirs of that particular city who are the heads of the major noble houses. They are responsible for overseeing the day to day governance of a particular region within the sultanate. There is also a unique role played by the Warden. They are in charge of the maintenance and defense of The Wall along the sultanates eastern border between the two branches of the Grey Mountains.
Culture
The culture of the kingdom is one of acceptance and friendliness in general. The Listuroni people are said to be some of the most welcoming and nice people you can find in the world of Zalastor. The culture heavily revolves around the sea and ocean. Water is of central importance in the nation due to the aquatic nature of two of the three major species that inhabit it and due to the nations heavy proximity to the coast. Trade and exploring are abundant although not quite as prevalent as their cousins across the bay the Tangir Sultanate. Worship of the goddess Alari is paramount among the people of the nation, but worship of all the different gods is strong. A deeply religious society in general although, one of acceptance of outside cultures and ways of life.
History
The sultanate was founded in the year 1087 AC by Listuroni the Great for who the nation takes its name along with many geographic locations as well. It was founded after he led a revolt against the Kingdom of Sincara successfully overthrowing the old kingdom. The sultanate slowly spread its borders to that of the old kingdom by offering fair terms and diplomacy to the old peoples of the kingdom. It has managed as a mostly neutral nation preferring to focus on its own issues and trade as opposed to influencing foreign nations. It has been ruled by the Oaken family ever since its founding and is currently ruled by Halas Oaken. The sultanate has been involved in several wars throughout its history but has only ever fought defensively against nations seeking to invade most notably being the wars against the Golden Khanate around 200 years ago and most recently the war against the Kingdom of Sildra-Tor after the kingdom called a crusade against them and invaded in the year 1500 AC. The war against the kingdom has stalemated and is ongoing with both sides rarely gaining ground on the other and offensives rarely carried out.
Demography and Population
The population is largely centered in the biggest cities and towns with around sixty to seventy percent living on the coast. The rest is spread out through rural villages that dot the landscape. Around thirty percent Sea Elves, thirty percent Humans, and twenty percent Rock Gnomes. The remaining percentage of the population is split up amongst varying different minorities species although with a strong minority of Triton.
Territories
The Sultanate occupies all of the land west of the Northern Grey Mountains and Southern Grey Mountains along the Bay of Listuron. They recently lost the city of New Lodern and its surrounding territory in their conflict with the Kingdom of Sildra Tor.
Religion
The Sultanate worships all the official gods of Zalastor but their chief deity and official state religion is the Faith of the Heavens. No gods are outlawed to worship even Alios but worship of the god of war is severely limited in scope because of the taboo around worshipping him, the general peaceful nature of the Listuroni people, and their current conflict with the Kingdom of Sildra-Tor. The Faith does maintain the use of several holy orders dedicated to various gods and draws their membership from the nations people. Participation in these orders is quite common for people within the nation and joining them can be a great honor.
Foreign Relations
The sultanate has very strong ties both culturally and politically to the Tangir Sultanate. They are often colloquially referred to as cousins across the bay. The two nations enjoy strong trade relations with each and cultural overlap is very prevelant.
The sultanate has quite frosty relations with both the Ashiri Empire and the Golden Khanate. The relations with the Ashiri are mostly because the Ashiri keep themselves extremely isolated from the other nations and peoples of the world. This closed off nature has made official relations between the nations nearly nonexistent although, it is rumored that the leaders of both nations have met in secret before. The relations with the Khanate are due to the Khanates general warlike nature and their previous attempted invasions. Those invasions were quite some time in the past but trust between the nations has been hard to come by in the time since.
Relations with the Kingdom of Sildra-Tor are essentially at an all time low due to the ongoing war between the two nations. The first crusade caught the sultanate unawares and deeply damaged any trust the sultanate had for the kingdom. Actual hostilities have ground down to a standstill and peace negotiations are set to opon quite soon.
The sultanate does not maintain official relations other than nominally with the Free Cities, the Abasid Caliphate and The Dread Lords. This is almost entirely because of the vast distance between the nations.

Legislative Body
The Sultan creates new laws for the sultanate after taking in the advice of his advisors and councilors. He is the final authority on which laws are created, abolished, and/or changed.
Judicial Body
The Justice of Alari. A council of judges appointed by the sultan who interpret the law and deal out punishment in accordance of the law. There is a separate council for each major city and a high council within the capital of Listuron that has authority over every other council.
Executive Body
The Crown is ultimately responsible for enforcing the laws of the sultanate although, the actual enforcing is carried out by the various city guards and town watches spread throughout the nation. Each Emir is responsible for enforcing the laws of their area of control and governance.
