Northern Grey Mountains
The Northern Grey Mountains or simply just the Northern Mountains is a large mountain chain that runs west to east through the continent of Zalas. It runs for nearly the entire length of the continent stretching from the western coast to the Undying Desert in the east. It is the northern branch of the Grey Mountains as it has a southern counterpart that runs parallel to itself. It forms the border of several nations most notably being the Listuroni Sultanate and Golden Khanate. It's most well known for its towering snow-capped spires that are said to be the tallest in the world.
Geography
The mountains start with the foothills that spread out a few miles from the mountains themselves. The foothills vary wildly in terrain with some being slowly rising hills to others being sharp and jagged cliffs that rise sharply. The mountains themselves are quite tall in general especially compared to its southern counterpart the Southern Grey Mountains. The tallest individual mountain is said to be contained with its spires but so far it has not been located. The mountains are also home to a series of large caverns in its more western parts.
Natural Resources
The mountains contain many deposits of varying minerals such as copper, nickel, iron, silver and gold. It also holds great quantities of stone to be used as building material. The foothills of the mountains also contain many forests which can be used for lumber. The mountains also contain many small streams and ponds as well as the start of many rivers which can be used as a water supply.
History
The mountains are believed to have been created at the same time as the continent of Zalas by the god Tarsen during the time of great creation. They have long been used to mark the borders of different nations and have kept the Undying Desert in the east of Zalas contained mostly to the east. The mountains have been used for ages as a source of mineral recourses and stone.
