Phale Woods
The Phale woods is a large forest in the very northeast corner of the continent of Zalas. It lies within the domain of the Free Cities and is shared between the three cities evenly. It is a pine and oak forest consisting mainly of Northern Red, White, Bur, Black and Willow oaks and Eastern White, Longleaf, Red, and Lodgepole pines. It is know for its unusual habit of the trees seeming to sing on very hot days.
Geography
The woods are a very thinly packed and loosely dense underbrush forest which makes traveling through them quite tame in comparison to some forests. Streams and creeks are common sights running through that form little pools and ponds. The terrain is know to be relatively flat with some hills in the southern parts of the forest.
History
The woods are believed by scholars to have been created at the same time as the continent of Zalas by the god Tarsen in his days of great creation. They were left relatively unexplored due to its existence on the other side of the Undying Desert from most civilizations until sailors could develop ships to travel past the desert and onto the other side. After being discovered and explored the woods have been used a source of timber and shelter for the local populace.
