Lake Asarai (Az-uh-rye)
Lake Asarai is a large freshwater lake that lies at the eastern edge of the Southern Grey Mountains and forms part of the border between the Undying Desert and the Dead Lands. It is such a large lake that while standing on one side it is impossible to see the other. It's known for its usually calm seas but can be rougher than imaginable if a storm rolls off the mountain into it. It is known to be rich with fish and game and thus is used by the towns on it as a great resource of food. It is also rumored to hold an underwater city of Triton down in the depths of the lake.
History
Scholars theorize that the lake was created at the same time as the creation of the continent of Zalas by the god Tarsen. It is believed by many that when the god took sight over the continent of his creation that he wept with such abandon at its beauty that his tears drained from his face into a large basin in the earth thus created the lake.
