The Shoaling Deep

The Shoaling Deep is an large ocean to the north of Zalas that occupies huge swathes of the north of the world. It seemingly does not have an end to its northern border apparently stretching on forever. Scholars debate on if it ever does end or not and the significance of the fact that all the oceans on the outer edge of the world seem to stretch on forever. While if it ends is not known what is known is that is full of reefs, shoals, sandbars, and seemingly random bits of shallow water. All these factors have led this ocean to have the reputation of a ship graveyard and as such tends to be avoided by all but the staunchest of sailors and those looking to avoid authority.

History

The Shoaling Deep is said to have been created not by Alari but by Tarsen in an attempt to impress his wife with a gift. Scholars believe that its overall shabby appearance compared to the rest of the oceans is due to the gods overall lack of experience creating bodies of water.
