Southern Tilas Woods (Till-lass)
The Southern Tilas Woods, otherwise known as the Southern Woods, is a smaller forest in the southern part of the island of Tilas. It lies within the domain of the Tangir Sultanate and is controlled by them. It is a mixed pine and oak forest mostly made up of White, Bur, Northern Red, Black oak along with Longleaf, Red, Lodgepole, Slash, and Jack pine.
Geography
The woods are known to be much thicker and closely packed than its northern neighbor the Northern Tilas Woods. Its underbrush is very overgrown which has made traveling through it very difficult. The forest has much fewer streams, rivers, and ponds than its northern neighbor. The terrain is largely flat with a small decline to the south.
History
The woods are thought to have been created at the same time as the continent of Zalas by the god Tarsen during his time of great creation. It was first discovered by Humans as they came to the island after making their way from the mainland of Zalas. It has been used as a source of timber by the local populace ever since its discovery.
