Sildra (Sill-dra)
Sildra is a large island in the very northwest of the world of Zalastor. It's bordered by the island of Tor across the Bay of Illaria along with the Abecean Sea and The Shoaling Deep to the east. It lies entirely within the domain of the Kingdom of Sildra-Tor and is controlled by it. It is mostly populated by High Elves, Hill Dwarves, Humans although there are small minorities of other species.
Geography
The island contains only a few different biomes. The majority of the center of the island is occupied by the Sildran Mountains running north to south. Bordering the mountains lie two forests one on either side, the Sintas Forest and the Tasara Woods. There is also one other major forest on the eastern coast of the island that being the Anore Forest. The majority of the land if it is not forest or mountain is made up of grasslands. The coasts of the island tend to be shallow sloped and are filled with many small inlets which make for strong natural ports.
Climate
The island is largely temperate in climate with extremes in temperature in either direction being rare. Temperatures tend to hover around sixty degrees most of the time. The area is also known for its massive rain storms and hurricanes that hit the island from the Abecean Sea.
History
The island is thought to have been created at the same time as its siter island Tor by the god Tarsen during the time of great creation but is thought to have been the created after the continent of Zalas. It was first discovered by the High Elves as they searched for a new home during their great migration. It has been home to several nations since the date of its discovery though during modern times it is home to the Kingdom of Sildra-Tor.
