Honour Strait
Honour Strait is located between Kutloc and Malnax at the point of the Uphorn region, with a severly rough crossing that rarely takes the 2.5 hours that side of water would usually.
A strait is considered a narrow passage of water connecting two large bodies of water - in this case, The Wayward Sea and The Whale Sea.
Although Honour Strait is not very wide seaway, 32 miles wide, separating Kutloc from the North-West of Malnax, known as the Uphorn region. The strait is mainly flat-floored, between 12 and 19 fathoms deep, but with scoured channels and hollows down to 28 fathoms.
Near the centre the floor of the strait consists of sandy pebbles and, to each side, fine sand. To the North and South the sea bottom slopes gently away and is covered mainly with very fine sand. A persistent tidal drift passes to the east through the strait at around 4 knots, but greater velocities probably scour some of the more constricted parts of the bottom and give rise to the coarse composition of the bottom sediments. The strait lies within the area of the continental shelf surrounding most of Malnax, and was probably dry land during the lowest sea-level.
Massive sharks and other deep sea creatures frequent the strait's waters.
The prevailing winds are stormy southily. The submarine conditions favour the natural growth of edible oysters and mutton birds, which are the basis of a thriving industry centred in the seaside town of Uphorn, Malnax.
