Hyon

Written by Esau Dm

Located on the North-East edge of the Gallic Desert, in the Northern Isle is a mining settlement of Hyon. The vegetation is sparse. The soil is made up of sand, clay and rock - not great for many plants, except the most hardy, much like the people who live there.

The road into Hyon from the Bard Springs, is surrounded by dry grasses on each side. To the West side of the road is the hot sands of the Gallic Desert. For the last two two hours of reaching Hyon, on the East side of the road, is a shallow ditch with a line of Desert Pines trees and Desert Willow trees.

The town is as dusty as one might imagine for a town so close to any desert, and is known for being a pretty rough and tumble place. Hyon has a smell of coal, sand and dirt. Nothing is easy to keep completely clean. There is an internal laundry drying system, designed by a ingenious Tabaxi nicknamed Genie.

Numerous Market Stalls, that set up once a month, with travelling merchants gathering to sell wears - Hyon becomes farther more busy and noisy in and around the Town Hall. None of the miners work on that day.

Down a slight slope is the Miner Lodging houses and other miners' facilities buildings.
Located near the Northern Silver Mine pit is three Miner Lodging houses - which contain bunkbeds - sleeping ten miners each. There are a pair of outdoor, boxed in showers - which only run cold water. The four long-drops stand behind the lodging houses. a central firepit, is used for cooking food for the miners. The night air will fill with their laughter and singing.

Steady Street is a cart wide dirt and clay track that heads to the Mining Pit - well trodden, with deep wheel grooves worn into the dirt. Deep ditches border the road, carrying waste and refuse down the slope (away from the Mining Pit). A broken cart has fallen in to a trench on the right side.

Straight Street is a rather wide dirt, straight and clay main road. It is made of dirt that has been packed down. Unfortunately, it was last maintained a long time ago, and is deteriorating slightly - leaving the road full of potholes and cracks. There are some litter that blow along the street.

The population is diverse and changeable, as miners and some of the miners' families come and go. They worship many deities - none having a clear majority at all.
