Halfling

Halflings - also known as the "quick folk" amongst themselves, or the "sly folk" or "good folk" by other races – are humanoid creatures similar look humans. The term "halfling" was derived from the fact that they were around half of the size of humans, otherwise very similar in appearance.

While not exactly greedy, Halflings do enjoy wealth and respect the power and pleasures it can bring. However, they are usually careful not to let greed compromise themselves or their society. In addition to information gathering, many halflings become collectors of different objects, ranging from mundane items like books or weapons to more exotic interests such as artifacts and other ancient secrets.

Halflings follow the patron deity of Moatama (The Creator) - who they consider to be a Halfling. Her faith is even popular among both sedentary and nomadic lightfoots. Cyrrollalee and the ever-youthful Mabonos are widely popular in later generations. They believe Cyrrollalee has promised a new homeland and greater respect from other races.

SUBRACES

GHOSTWISE
Ghostwise halflings are usually highly concerned with family and clan. They do not experience as much wanderlust as the other halflings subraces.
This subrace of halflings have the unique ability to communicate telepathically with any creature within 30 feet (9.1 meters) of them that speaks the same language. Additionally, it is possible for the Ghostwise, more than other halflings, to display psionic powers. Such Ghostwise typically take up the life of a psychic warrior or a wilder.
Average lifespan = 105–200 years

LIGHTFOOT
Also known as hairfeet or Luiren halflings.
They are the most common type of halflings with Long sideburns. More widely seen in Esau, largely due to their famous wanderlust - which set them apart from the relatively sedentary ghostwise and strongheart halflings.
Lightfoots are most comfortable living alongside other cultures, even adopting their cultural practices, right down to their deities.
Lightfoots adore keeping pets, for the sake of both protection and companionship. They often keep some form of large hound or other creature. Another common animal kept are foxes, who they admire for their stealthiness and cunning.

STRONGHEART
Strongheart halflings, also known as stout halflings, or stoutheart halflings, by other races.
Strongheart halflings are moderately shorter and stockier than their lightfoot kin. They also have a greater tendency for wearing armor of all kinds. Their skin tones and hair colours roughly ranged the same gamut as humans. Though brown, blond, and black hair are most common. Their eyes tend to be blue or green.
There is very little that can upset most stronghearts or even corrupt them. Their outlook on life stresses cooperation above all else, with one's skill in teamwork being among the most valuable behaviour in their lands. Some races stereotype them as being fat or lazy due to their sedentary nature and love of fine food. However, they are simply patient as well as very industrious. They put great emphasis on quality.
Out of all halflings, stronghearts invest the most into the practice of the Types of Magic and stationery magic items are somewhat common. Many communities have continual flames lighting their town squares at night or walls that repell the arrows of attackers. Spellcasters among them tend to devote their time to improving the lot of their communities.
Stronghearts live a semi-nomadic lifestyle - whole businesses, families, and even clans moving around Malnax. They would often learn other languages, especiall Dwarish.
