Neverwinter Stories: Book One – Chapter Seventeen
General Summary
After being overcome by GeorGedor's forces, blue team was forced to retreat. During which they confronted Worvil "the Weevil" and his pursuing bugbears. After defended the dwarf the three quickly interviewed him, showing him a trinket given to them by his trusted second in command, Erazek. With hesitation, the bandit leader revealed to them his plan to steal Narbeck Horn's map. Markus and Alessandra saw benefits in helping him, but Lilith had other plans. The party elected to split into two groups: Markus and Alessandra with Worvil, and Lilith with Jh'an Relic.
The dragon knight and infernal warlock made their way with the dwarf over to Xantharl's Keep's name sake. Alessandra used her illusions to infiltrate the keep, disguising herself as commander Horn, and breaking into his office using explosives provided by Wrovil. The boys scaled the outside of the building, sharing stories about recent adventures with each other. Before handing the dwarf the map, Alessandra quickly duplicated it. The three snuck away from the tower, whereafter our two heroes declined Worvil's offer to join him in his grand exodus. They then made their way back to the battle, aiming to join their friend in their fight against the sorcerer menace.
On her way to regroup with Jh'an, Lilith came across the dying Gravelgut, who helped them in their initial defense. The guard captain thanked her profusely after she healed him using one of her potions of healing. Soon after she regrouped with her mentor, Jh'an Relic, at the Falling Orc Inn. There they took some time to melancholically contemplate current events, discuss their plan of action, and to reminisce about their history together. Before long, GeorGedor's vanguard arrived at the scene—matched by Narbeck Horn's elite corp. Their plan? to flank and pincer the ettin between the commander's men, and Lilith and Jh'an's undead.
Not only did the two wizards enact their plant the second the clash began, but both Alessandra and Markus join Narbeck Horn in his counter offensive. It wasn't long before GeorGedor's giantkin were overrun by the two fronts. From there the battle grew exponentially chaotic. Spells careened through tight alleys and arrows soared overhead. Pressing through smoke and shadows blue team finally found their way to the sorcerer. Their might was matched, but as they finally began to get the upper hand, a shadow-born wyvern-like creature alighted onto the battlefield. Just as things began to turn desperate, Jh'an unleashed a death ray onto the giant, killing him. However, it was apparent that not even death was final for GeorGedor. He cursed the parties names as the wyvern lifted the now undead sorcerer from the battlefield—retreating back to Heim Haug. Seeing their great leader routed, the giants under his command fled Xantharl's Keep, leaving the exhausted party and company to finally take a rest. But just before they had a chance to get comfortable, Alessandra received a message from Miguel through their sending stones. Apparently there was a complication.
