Neverwinter Stories: Book One – Chapter One

General Summary

After dealing the the giant Arog, our heroes set about the village in search of Evanolhis . After a time, they finally gathered in the village hall where Mayor Vurnor Leng and the Branded Herald explained the reason for their summons. Four local adventurers named Talgen and Sharwyn Hucrele, Sir Braford, and Karakas had set out to the Sunless Citadel just south of the village to investigate the Durbuluk Tribe. That was a month ago. The herald asked the party to go and rescue the adventurers — or if they met their end to recover their bodies. With the promise of aid in their personal matters, our heroes prepared for their journey to come. They set out the following day, but not before joining Felosial for dinner and receiving a magic ring as a thank you.   The party traveled to the Sunless Citadel in the morning and delved into the darkness by midday. Not long into their investigation they discovered a locked door with no apparent way of opening it. The party made a mental note and took a different path. Down it they found a kobold dragon cult, lead by a priestess named Yusdrayl, had moved in recently. She explained that the citadel was a holy site they took a pilgrimage too and that the goblins had defiled it and captured their cult's dragon — a white dragon wyrmling named Calcryx. She offered a deal, if the party rescued Calcryx then she would reward them a magic item or two from her collection. Agreeing to the terms, our heroes set out with the cult's Keeper of Dragons, Meepo, as a guide through the citadel's deadly halls.   Stepping lightly through Durbuluk territory and ambushing those they came across, the party found themselves in a old prison block — now a nest for the giant rats that populate the Sunless Citadel.
