Neverwinter Stories: Book One – Chapter Four Paralogue: Miguel

General Summary

Climbing down the bleached vines, Miguel arrived at a deeper, more overgrown part of the complex. With a bit of exploration, he soon discovered a lived in cave where a mammoth of a bugbear kept busy. He chose to announce his presence, confident that he could escape if they were hostile. However, to Miguel's surprise, the bugbear was more than welcome to him. Balsag gave him food and drink, showed him his pet hunting rats named Rip and Fang, and went on to discuss many topics from politics to philosophy.   During these discussions Miguel learned much about the Durbuluk Tribe and it's current situation. Durnn usurped power from Grenl years ago, and now a druid named Belak the Outcast has been using the tribe as a cover for his secret operations. Balsag didn't like either of the two, but he admired Grenl for her wise and peaceful leadership. He was very proud to call himself the Durbuluk tribe's hunter. Miguel also learned of Talgen Hucrele's fate. Apparently, Talgen antagonized Durnn when they were captured and, in a fit of rage, Durnn executed him.   The two became fast friends. So much so, that Balsag invited Miguel on his next attempt to tame a beast called a fire snake that laired in a nearby cave. He agreed, and the two set out. After some initial difficulties, Balsag was forced to wrestle the fire snake, whereafter Miguel used his magic is speak to it. Miguel successfully convinced the fire snake that it should let Balsag become it's master. Having been wounded from the encounter, the hunter offered a place to stay while he recovered.
