Neverwinter Stories: Book One – Chapter Eleven

General Summary

the party finally came to the excavation sight in late afternoon. There they encountered the dwarven prospectors Dazlyn Grayshard and Norbus Ironrune, who they then gave their warning to. But before they could leave the dwarves offered them a deal. If they went into the temple they unearthed and cleared out all of the oozes within, then they would give them a pair of sending stones and half of the findings within. Our heroes agreed and all but Zalak plunged into the temple's depths.
It wasn't long until the party encountered the creatures. Oozes ambushed them from the walls and while our heroes were victorious, their equipment did not fair so well. As they continued their search for any remaining oozes, the party came across a skeleton of one of the temple's acolytes clutching a strange goblet. surprisingly, the skeleton was alive — spirit bound by unrelenting greed and zeal. Miguel tricked the skeleton into giving him the goblet by wearing one of their old vestments, finally putting the poor soul to rest. The party then attempted to use the information they got from the skeleton about the goblet to use. However, the party mistook the mentions of placing it on a shrine, for placing it on the main altar. The real shrine was sacked by Unit 7-5-3, who had previously been cursed with the same greed that plagued the skeleton. Sacking the shrines was a mistake and it exploded, nearly killing the warforged.
The party reunited to Norbus and Dazlyn for their reward, but as they exited the temple they saw a lonely Zalak being accosted by seven bandits led by a distinguished hobgoblin carrying a magic staff.
