Neverwinter Stories: Book One – Chapter Fourteen

General Summary

Beaten down and seeking refuge, our heroes finally arrived at the Old Tower late into the night. Rest was not found as a boulder was hurled at their location, nearly crushing Markus. Erazek, who was hidden nearby, explained the situation. Zalak and him were going to have their duel, but the warlock was taken by a hill giant who emerged from the tower. There was also another group of people on the other side of the hill, and a member of the group had the ability to create undead; indicated by the several crushed zombies who tried to approach the tower.
Lilith knew no fear of the giant, since she already met her. She announced herself to Moog, and with a bit of explaining, the party was let into the tower. There the found the captured Zalak who, though means still unknown, was now Moog's new husband. The other group tried approached everyone. From the tower they could see that it consisted of a few ogres and giants, and it was lead by Jh'an Relic, Lilith's former mentor. They let Jh'an in, where the two caught up on recent events and Erazek and Jh'an explained the current situation.
There were three factions vying for over the Crags and for ownership of the maps to Furtîlorn. First was Erazek's; the Forkbeard Family, a group of outlaws directly opposing Mirabar. It was lead by a dwarven man named Worvil "the Weevil" Forkbeard who wanted to find Furtîlorn to better the lives of his gang. Second was the hill giants, lead by an extremely powerful spellcaster, GeorGedor. The former chief was usurped by the ettin and now they are being militarized to serve him on his quest to achieve immortality. Jh'an begrudgingly supports GeorGador, having been the one who taught him magic. Lastly was the Mirabarans at Xantharl's Keep. They were lead by Narbeck Horn, The Shield of Mirabar. He and his men wish the acquire all of the maps not to use them, but to hide them and return the area to a form of peace.
Seeing his chance to right his wrongs, Jh'an proposed an alliance under the pretense that the party would help him kill GeorGedor. Erazek reinforced the proposal, saying that they would receive an incredibly special reward for helping the Forkbeard Family acquire all of the maps. There the alliance was born and there they planned their next move. With an agreement reached, Jh'an killed his giantkin followers.
From the information given by Jh'an and Erazek, the alliance pieces together what all of the factions were planning. In a few day, GeorGedor was going to lay siege to Xantharl's Keep in an attempt to take Narbeck's map. Meanwhile, Worvil has been hiding inside Xantharl's keep, waiting for an opportunity to steal the map. This meant that GeorGedor's map would be left significantly less protected and the chaos at Xantharl's Keep could be bent to the party's favor. Not wanting to miss either opportunity, our heroes elected to split into two teams, one red and the other blue, and go to both locations. The red team consisted of Zalak, Unit 7-5-3, Miguel, Erazek, and Moog. The blue team had Lilith, Markus, Alessandra, and Jh'an. With the stage set for the highest risk play they could make, the alliance took one last rest, looking to set out in the morning.
