Neverwinter Stories: Book One – Chapter Twenty-One

General Summary

The orcs pulled the rubble away from barricaded door while our heroes discussed battle plans with Grnak. Together they determined that securing the prison was their main priority, so assaulting the bugbear's barracks was their first step. As soon as the doors were open, the party and the army of orcs rushed ahead, breaking cell doors and bugbear skulls as they went. Together they fought their way into and through the barracks, depopulating each room one after the other.

Half-Moon split off from the group and followed a small unit of orcs into the marshaling area beyond the barracks, accompanied by "Frog Face" Frank, Worvil "the Weevil" Forkbeard, and Lilith Blackheart. The four came across the still recovering GeorGedor, who promptly consumed the souls of the orcs and tried to do the same to the adventures. However, with Worvil's equipment, Frank's bravery, and Lilith's arcane talent, they coordinated an incredibly powerful attack. The combined force of a keg of smoke powder and a fireball was so cacophonous and awesome that the ettin nearly died once more, and was forced to retreat again. The sound was so great that the prison's warden, The Keeper, rose from his bedchambers to combat the interloping heroes and give his master time to escape. The rest of the party, Markus Grasswind, Alessandra Corlinnar, and the allied Askra joined the fray after hearing the explosion, and a vicious battle ensued. There were many close calls, the bard and cleric nearly falling to the giants might, but even after being empowered by GeorGedor's dark magic the party managed to overwhelm the giant warden with fire aplenty.
They quickly looted the giant's belonging and scattered his pets, before returning to the now relatively secure barracks to rest and discuss their next move.
