Neverwinter Stories: Campaign 1 – Session 25

Book One: The Trees of Life and Death – Chapter Twenty-Five: A Feast to Remember

General Summary

Two long and busy months had passed and the Redwings were ready to revel for a couple days. Bedecked in their finest wear, they gathered in Heim Haug's great hall to celebrate their recent victory over GeorGedor, Zalak and Moog's wedding, and Alessandra's birthday. The first night was spent rubbing elbows with many of the area's most powerful individuals. Stories were told, cheers were made, and food was eaten, all of which was accompanied by one of Half-Moon's captivating performances.
The second day featured a cooperative eating contest with an item from the shadow sorcerer's old horde as its grand prize. Markus and Askra entered the competition together. With many close calls they managed to tie for first place with Bluba, an obese hill giant. The tie was resolved by way of a thumb war, one that Markus only won through subtle magical intervention.
As the feast came to a close the negotiations with the ettin's former investors began. First was Merihim, who bowed out of the arrangement and thanked the party for their cooperation. Second was King Gommoth, who offered the service of a small legion of azer craftsmen in exchange for some of Furtîlorn's branches. When asked why he wanted branches he boasted about his devotion to releasing the ancient primordial Maegera from its prison in Mount Hotenow, and that branches from an equally ancient tree of life may be enough kindling to stir the titan. As he continued, he explained that something capable of producing such a brilliant inferno would be an effective weapon in the fight against the dragons. Markus adamantly rejected the offer and the rest of the party quickly followed. Gommoth left without a fuss, leaving the final investor to make their offer. Instead of the shadar-kai elf from before, a Calishite woman named Ankasha came as a representative of their organization. Her offer was simple: money and information in exchange for accessory or unwanted magic item they found on their adventures. She also offered what appeared to be perfectly obedient elvish servants of her design, but the party declined. Instead, Half-Moon and Lilith both asked if Ankasha was willing to show them how she made the servants at a later time, which she agreed to, and she even sent a servant to Lilith's estate as per her private request.
With business concluded and all other urgent matters tended to, it was finally time for the Redwings to focus on finding Furtîlorn. Miguel presented some of his findings when investigating the sites marked on the four maps. One of them lead to the Sunless Citadel where he found a large limestone boulder with gnomish writing on it in the nearby rocks. When Markus and Askra translated the writing and solved its riddle while on their way to their kruthik hunt, a lapis ring in a glass sphere appeared. The tabaxi theorized that the ball was an incomplete armillary, and that the other three sites would have the remaining rings. Alessandra recalled seeing such a boulder when she and Lilith went to Icebrook Dairy. The team decided to split up responsibilities for finding the remaining rings. Our heroes would quickly go to the dairy and collect the ring, while Miguel when to the second closest site and try to find the limestone boulder. Meanwhile, Worvil "the Weevil" and his crew would go to the farthest site. They would then regroup with the Forkbeard Family and figure out what to do from there on.
With a plan in place, the party and company retired for the night.

Rewards Granted

Askra and Markus defeated Bluba and won the cooperative eating contest, earning them the prize, Vokuth's Hammer.
Sharwyn Hucrele gave Alessandra her old spellbook, saying that she was giving up on being an adventurer.
During the negotiations, the party brokered a deal with Ankasha and her associates. This deal allows the party to sell her any spare magic items in exchange for information or wealth.
