Neverwinter Stories: Book One – Chapter Sixteen

General Summary

Red team set out for Heim Haug early in the morning, wasting no time. They arrived in mid afternoon, not long after GeorGedor and his army left. Erazek, Miguel, and Zalak spent some time devising a plan to steal the giant's map. Their plan: Zalak and Moog would approach the front entrance and draw as much attention as they were able, while Erazek, Miguel, and Unit 7-5-3 snuck into the building and snatched the objective.
With their plan in place, the red team split up. Zalak and Moog met two giants at the main entrance, both sleeping off the great deal of alcohol they had been drinking. Zalak announced their presence and demanded an audience with the giants of Heim Haug. They refused, saying that he was smaller and therefore inferior, wounding the warlock's pride. He pressed on, even claiming that he was a better warrior then either of the two. A point needed to be proven. One of the giants retreated into the steading. Not soon after he reemerged, now wearing a leather mask the resembled a pig and announcing himself as "Pig Smasher". The drunken giant and the disgruntled warlock wrestled for supremacy, to see who would pin the other first. The inebriate underestimated Zalak, who cleverly used the giant's size and state to win the match. The guards were so impressed that the let the warlock into their main hall, announcing him as the "Tiny Giant". Nearly all of those dining in the hall were skeptical. One giant tested the human; handing him a giant tankard and challenging him to a drinking contest. Zalak accepted the challenge and surprising everyone, including himself, he won. All of the giants were so impressed that they official dubbed him the Tiny Giant, and allowed him to join them in their great hall.
Meanwhile, The other three member of red team breached the outer wall and snuck into the steading. They made their way from room to room, dodging sleeping giant and pet bears alike. Erazek elected to stay behind while the other pressed forward. The warforged and tabaxi eventually found their way to the small dining room across the hall from the chief's bedchamber. Hung on the wall was the map, but unlike the others it was massive—much to large to carry. They quickly replicated it. As they were doing so, Miguel began to hear the growing sound of footstep approaching the private dining room. Panicking, they searched for a place to hide. Miguel noticed that the furs covering one of the walls was ill-shapen. When they peaked behind, they found an open arcway leading to hidden rooms, where they promptly disappeared into.
Zalak didn't remember much after he started drinking. He also didn't remember the other giants who entered the great hall and took him away. All he did remember was suddenly sobering up in the small dining, face to face with the hill giant's new chief GeorGedor. Zalak was fiercely interrogated by the the sorcerer, but he remained resolute—refusing to give the ettin any information. Eventually the sorcerer demanded that Moog be returned to him. Zalak also refused. Instead, he attacked the ettin's pride and manipulated him into accepting a duel to the death. If GeorGedor won he would get Moog back. If Zalak won then he would become the new chief. They both agreed to have their duel at then end of the current tenday, and Zalak was placed in a stone cage in the meantime.
Unit 7-5-3 and Miguel found a few things of interest in the hidden room. A staircase led down to a lower level, wherein many mysteries were sure to be discovered. The room itself held a rack containing several magical scrolls, each one detailing the creation and application of magic giant runes. They also discovered a hidden cache containing a letter written in Netherese. They collected these items of interest, and upon their exodus, the two regrouped with Erazek and attempted to do so with Zalak, but their attempted rescue was met with resistance. Zalak refused to join them, saying that no person should have have ownership over another, and that Moog has the right to choose her own future. They yielded and retreated from the hill giant's steading. Miguel then contacted blue team using his paired sending stone, informing them that there was a complication on their end of the Crags.
