Book One: The Trees of Life and Death — Chapter Twenty-Nine: Fever Season

General Summary

Having defeated the blighted menace, the Redwings were now free to extract the wounded they rescued. Markus and Tug dug out caved in passage they came through for ease of access, while Alessandra, Askra, and Lilith Blackheart scoped out the rest of the area. The three opened the abyssal door and found a crypt beyond it, but chose not to disturb what lay inside.

After having taken everyone up and back to the dairy, the wounded were left in the barn and Lukas was tasked with contacting Dem “Corkie” Nackle for medical assistance. The Icebrooks were overjoyed by the party's report on what happened, even though they had lost three of their farmhands. As payment, the family let the Redwings use their spare beds for the night, fed and resupplied them, and gave Alessandra a token from one of Alben's previous lives: a razor-sharp, ebony blade with shallow veins coursing with dim fire. Meanwhile, Half-Moon began to come down with an unusual disease; she became hysteric and cruel, and bark-like protrusions started to grow from her skin. She refused Askra nd Markus' care. Seeing the situation as having been handled, our heroes packed up their things and set back out onto the open road, course set toward Blackford Crossing.

On their way to the small riverside village, the Redwings encountered a rather suspicious halfling named Redgy who claimed to have met Askra previously. They didn't buy it and instead, due to Half-Moon's illusory sabotage, they intimidated him. Redgy cracked, explaining that he was a con man looking to steal valuables from gullible travelers. he gave them a purse he stole, transformed into a saytr, and ran off into the Neverwinter Woods. The party rested soon after, just shy of their destination.

Rewards Granted

For saving who they could and curing the water, the Icebrooks provided food, shelter, and gave Alessandra a magic sword from their collection of memories.

After scaring Redgy, the party acquired a stolen grandmother's purse.

The party spend time extracting wounded villagers from the temple, in addition to Lukas and Tug. Sheldanna assisted where she could.

Afterward they spoke to Ester and Alben Icebrook, who rewarded them for their efforts.

On the road to Blackford Crossing, the Redwings encountered a suspicious halfling named Redgy who tried and failed to swindle them.

Notes

Alben mentioned that he saw a white dragon wyrmling south of the dairy. Alessandra assumed this to be the missing Calcryx.
