Neverwinter Stories: Book One – Chapter Thirteen

General Summary

Not wanting to miss their chance at getting in on the action, the party made their return trip to Oakhurst brief. While the others collected their reward from Vurnor Leng, Markus and Lilith took that maps they got from Belak's journal to the the village's cleric, Dem “Corkie” Nackle. She translated what was written on them free of charge, revealing that the two maps they had were the ones Erazek spoke of. Armed with money and knowledge, our heroes regrouped and made their way to the Forkbeard Family's Hideout.
However, on their path to the hideout the traveled through a eerie patch of forest. There they encounter two wounded soldier from Xantharl's Keep, Vathoc and Nudmas, who warned the party of nearby danger and told them to flee. With no heed paid, the party took up arms and defend themselves and the soldiers from an onslaught of blights that descended upon them. While savage, the blights proved to be no match for the strength demonstrated by our heroes. That was, until a blight of monolithic proportions entered the fray. Miguel healed the wounded soldiers while the party covered their escape, but the creature proved to be too much for them. One by one it overpowered them. Miguel was even swallowed whole. It took wit, courage, and dumb luck, but Markus managed to free the bard, and the team warded the creature off long enough for everyone to escape. Broken down and needing rest, the party diverted course to the nearby Old Tower where they believed they could find Zalak.
